Dubai has hundreds of web design and development agencies, from freelancers to large firms. Most of them show attractive portfolios, so it is hard to tell who will actually deliver. This checklist will help you shortlist the right partner and avoid the most common mistakes business owners make.
Screenshots and mock-ups are easy to make. Ask for links to live websites the agency has built, then open them on your phone. Check that they load quickly, are easy to read, and that the contact forms work. If an agency cannot show any live client work, treat that as a warning sign.
A website is a sales tool. Ask what happened after launch: did enquiries increase, did the site start ranking on Google, did online sales grow? A good agency will talk about goals such as leads and conversions, not only colours and animations.
Some agencies sell the project and then outsource it. That is not always bad, but you should know who your developer is, how communication works and who to call if something breaks. Ask for one named point of contact.
Before you sign, confirm in writing that you will own:
Many business owners discover years later that their domain is registered to a former agency. Avoid that from day one.
Most of your visitors will arrive on a phone. Ask whether the agency tests on real devices, how they keep the site fast, and whether basic SEO (page titles, descriptions, sitemap, Google Search Console setup) is part of the price. These should be standard, not paid extras.
If you serve customers across the UAE and the wider GCC, you may need an Arabic version now or later. Ask whether the agency has built bilingual, right-to-left sites before, even if you start in English only.
Websites need updates, backups and security fixes. Ask what happens after launch: is there a maintenance plan, how fast do they respond, and what does it cost? An agency that disappears after handover will cost you more in the long run.
Compare quotes line by line: number of pages, design revisions, content writing, integrations, training and support. The cheapest quote often leaves out something you will need to pay for later. See our guide on how much a website costs in Dubai for the questions to ask.
At Digi Crest, design, development and marketing are handled by one team, so your website is built to bring enquiries, not just to look good. You own your domain, hosting and content, and you get a clear scope before any work starts. Talk to us about your project.
